LPFM lands in Goldendale after two years of volunteer efforts and a generous supporting grant from Puget Sound Energy Foundation. Thank you, PSE!
KVGD-LP is a low power FM station that applied for a construction permit in the FCC’s October 2013 go round. The license applicant organization is Community Enrichment for Klickitat County (CEKC), a 501C3. The construction permit was granted in February 2014. Station building efforts included fund-raising and extended over the next 18 months. With very little time left in the original permit period, PSE’s community outreach personnel offered the station a helping hand. An extension request for additional time was granted by the FCC during August 2015. The station went on air on September 21, 2015 and celebrates two years on air in the Fall of 2017!
Programming changes at the one-year mark included the change-over from a PC to Apple based station system and an automated playlist software resulting in more flexible music programming. Thanks to all volunteers for their valuable and indispensable time and resources to better the only community based public radio station that Goldendale, WA has ever known. Thank you to all new and renewing members for your ongoing support.
